walking distance

In summer, the woods are yours to explore. There are many  trails in the surrounding hills and valleys for hiking and mountain biking. One of your hikes could lead to the wind hut, where you can take a break and sit around a wood fire. After your hike, take a refreshing swim in the crystal clear lake or grab the rowing boat for a relaxing trip across the lake. Do not forget to bring a fishing rod to try to catch some fish for dinner. Roast sausages or your freshly caught fish in the fire pit while the sun sets behind the hills. Gaze at the stars from the terrace before bedtime. On clear nights, the entire milky way unfolds before your eyes.

In autumn the leaves change, adding spectacular yellows and reds to the wooded scenery. Hiking and boating offer picturesque views of the seasonal transition. Many different varieties of berries are ripe for the picking on the hills surrounding the cabins. The fall hunting season also starts in the first week of September. Guided expeditions tracking moose, deer and hare can be arranged in advance. Celebrate your day's adventures with a warm glass of Glögg around the fire!

In winter and early spring, we are blanketed by white powdery snow. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the quiet forests offer the possibility of encountering a foraging deer or moose. On the lake, you might try ice fishing. It is an experience that every fisherman must have had once! And when you sit at the campfire together, tired from all the activities, all of a sudden the Aurora Borealis could appear in the night sky above you.

driving distance

When you have a car, the entire region of Jämtland is yours to discover.

Whether you decide to hit the road for a full day-trip or a quick visit nearby, we can provide many great recommendations for food, fun and adventure. There is nature everywhere! So depending on the season, there are great locations nearby for hiking, swimming, boating, biking, cross-country skiing, down-hill skiing, ice-skating, sledding, and snow-shoeing.  Östersund is home to a World Cup cross-country skiing circuit!  And in Gällö it is now possible to go crosscountry skiing all year round in an old tunnel! You might also like to try some of the local pastimes, such as motor sports. In our neighboring town of Rissna, go-cart racing, silly-car team driving, and ice-driving  can be arranged in advance for parties of six or more. A little farther down the road, you might try motor cycling or, in winter, snowmobiling and snow-motorcycling at OffroadZweden
